Very Interesting:
.FR Requirements
Am I eligible for .FR?
To register a .FR domain name, you must have a French address and contact details. If you do not have these details, our French address may be used at no extra cost. We guarantee you full ownership of the domain name, and reserve the right to cancel registrations should the registrant terms and conditions be breached.
europeregistry will act as my agent in France (recommended).
Registrant has a local presence in France, and fulfils the .FR eligibility criteria.
So they act as agents. Not bad.
Exactly what I needed. Thanks

you can get a .fr domain really easily just lie about everything.... not that I'm condoning this personally I'd say get a frenchman to do it for you. the real issue is when it comes to hosting. I currently have several .fr domains but no way of hosting them.
i don't undertsand. if i buy a .fr domain from europe registry, and they satisfy requirements such as local presence as proxy, why would i have hosting problems? can't i just point the domain at a US host? why would there be difficulty if i wanted a french host? what is it that i am missing here? sorry, newbie to int'l domains...
