“Sunny Leone” is a stage name the performer adopted early in her 10-year career. Her real name is Karen Malothra. Born to Punjabi parents who emigrated from India, the busty beauty is a native of Sarnia, Canada, where she received an education in accordance with the Sikh religion.

A turning point in her life occurred at age 13, when her family moved to America. After living in Fort Gratiot and Lake Forest, Mich., they settled in sun-drenched California. It was in the States that Leone discovered a freer way of life. The innocent teenager on roller skates quickly discovered a wider world. She now admits that if he had not left Canada, she probably would not have embarked upon a career as a porn star.

Thanks to a friend who was performing in nightclubs, Leone met Penthouse photographer Jay Allen and publisher Bob Guccione. From that moment, her career took off, first in the glossy “gentlemen’s sophisticate” magazine industry and later on the screen. She soon became a Vivid Entertainment contract star.

Now Leone has her own production company, Sunlust Pictures, but she continues to perform occasionally for other studios.

She became an American citizen in 2006 and resides in Southern California.
