YNOT EUROPE – British novelties and lingerie retailer Ann Summers has sealed a deal to bring products manufactured by Sparks, Nevada-based Tantus Inc. to the UK.

Tantus, founded by Metis Black in 1997, originally set out to produce items the company called “art-house sexual products.” Today, the company is the largest producer of platinum-based silicone sex toys in the U.S., known for its line of earth-friendly novelties. The products are phthalate-free, hypoallergenic, odorless, bleachable, boilable, dishwasher-safe and meant to last a lifetime with minimal care.

“We are pleased to partner with Tantus and welcome them to our [online] Pleasure Emporium,” said Mark Brewer, head buyer for Ann Summers. “The quality and consumer education which is at the heart of their brand, has much synergy with the values here.”

The products are expected to begin appearing on AnnSummers.com early this year. They will join an expanding variety of lingerie, bondage gear, novelties and erotic apparel.

“I believe that a structured relationship between Ann Summers and Tantus will not only cause organic growth for both parties, but [also] will provide a healthy, eco-friendly product for consumers and help us establish an international presence,” Senior Account Manager Rita Healy said. “Consumers will have a quality product from a quality retailer.”
