Five + Four = 69?

YNOT EUROPE – True, your humble reporter is not a mathematical genius, but television channel Four, recently “acquired” by TeleCinco, has had a curious change of profile. Previously, Four was the educational and informative option, and now, in a flash, it specializes in erotic sensationalism.

I write this not without reason. Right now the schedule is so different from what viewers have come to expect that it may provoke outrage in more than one.

For example, one of the items on the schedule is “21 Days in the Practices of Sadomasochism.” It’s very clear the channel does not want to lose the pull of Samanta Villar’s “undercover report” about porn. According to the program guide, “The journalist will live the experience firsthand in an attempt to understand why for some people causing pain to others produces pleasure. To do this, she will learn to behave like a dominatrix and also experiment with the game of submission.”

Without a doubt, the channel hopes to raise controversy — or, said another way, increase its audience — because this is “news before it breaks!”

But wait — there is more “stimulation” … and irritation. Instead of Villar, reporter Adela Úcar plunges into the world of sadomasochism in the hands of, among others, the Mistress Minerva.

This is nothing more than two and one-half hours of shameless titillation, conveniently slotted into the spot following the “reality” show, “Baghdad: Empire of the Senses,” which was filmed inside the legendary Barcelona sex club of the same name.

And for dessert: “Streetwalkers,” replacing “Baghdad: Without Censorship.”

Will we soon christen the brand “4X?”? Perhaps with Berlusconi’s “friends” as stars….
