Sexy Art Gallery Show to Kick Off Netherlands ‘Wasteland Weekend’

YNOT EUROPE – The next Wasteland event will take place Nov. 25 at the Northsea Venue in Amsterdam. Since 1994, Wasteland has been among Europe’s most notorious fetish fantasy balls.

This year’s party will include a fashion show by Demask, a “Shanghai Swing Nightclub” and choreographed stage shows by some of Europe’s most celebrated performers.

But Wasteland is more than a single night’s erotic escape — it’s an attitude. Other Amsterdam businesses and groups plan to pitch in to make the entire weekend memorable.

The city’s innovative Sexy Art Gallery (La Galerie Provocatrice) and GO Gallery will join forces Nov. 25 to kick off the weekend with a new exhibition: “Higashi No Jounetsu” (“Passion of the East”).

Inspired by the traditional erotic art of Japan and the Orient, the exhibition will feature works by Japanese, European and American artists including Yumiko Kayukawa, Japi Honoo, Pipsqueak was here!!!, Komiyama Houbou, Danni Shinya Luo, Rikki Kasso, YoniLab, Phresha, Wilhelmusvlug, Andrea Soto, Karen Hsiao, Wulan Mei Lina, Simon van der Weerd, Katsuhiko Brian Sato, Mr. Sittikorn Acharapornpen, Italia Ruotolo, Tansy Myer and Alexander Smith.

Themes typically found in Japanese erotic art — most commonly seen today in Shunga, ero-Manga and Ecchi — often focus on the mischievous and playful, which dovetails beautifully with Wasteland’s oeuvre.

Adding to the atmosphere of the exhibition, Japanese fetish performer Amrita is expected to perform.

“Higashi No Jounetsu” will debut at 19.00 Nov. 25 at GO Gallery, Prinsengracht 64, Amsterdam. The exhibit will continue through Dec. 31.
