Increasing Regulation, Dwindling Talent Pool Affect UK Industry

PervlensLONDON – A weak consumer market, increased regulation and a dwindling talent pool have convinced Pervlens Media, a producer of niche content, to stop producing new material for its pay sites later this month.

Pervlens’ sites include Exploited British Girls, My Beautiful Tease, Hardcore Tease and Bound Fucking.

“The UK industry is really very weak,” Pervlens Chief Executive Officer Ben Yates said. “Increased regulation right down to the talent pool … everything has become too difficult for small providers to create exciting, high-quality content that consumers rightly demand.”

The company was just beginning the development process for Exploited British Girls, a POV site, when Yates and his staff decided pulling the plug would be the wisest course of action.

“It was really the talent pool in the UK that killed off EBG,” he said. “There is no way that site could survive on a long-term basis, as it would rely on a steady stream of relatively fresh talent. Our talent pool in the UK is shrinking quickly and isn’t being replenished, coupled with both the rising anti-porn mood and lack of industry structure on our side of the pond. Failure is unfortunately inevitable with this kind of project.”

The content already created for the site will be released on DVD and video on demand beginning in September, he added.

“EBG is a great concept and one that could still work, just not in the original format as planned,” Yates said. “As well as the DVD and VOD releases, it is hoped the website will become an active hub for discovering British and European talent.”

Whilst the company may be winding down content production for its own pay sites, commercial clients will continue to receive the same high-quality content they are accustomed to, Yates noted.

“Pervlens Media isn’t leaving production,” he said. “We are just not producing for or running our own pay sites anymore. We will still continue to produce content for others and our DVD and VOD titles.

“It’s a matter of great sadness for me personally, in that I’ve always strived to put my customer first when producing content,” Yates added. “Ultimately, leaving the pay-site space is an admission that we can’t deliver that from the UK anymore.”
